The Acacia Strain

Slow Decay

Archival TAS-01

  • The band approached me with a unique concept of having multiple art covers that would each be made into 7" vinyl releases. The extended piece would span 5 covers, featuring two singles and a letter revealing the final name of their album. Vincent described his concept to me as "That feeling when you are going for a walk and it's all flowers, sun and birds and you come across a dead, decaying spot in the forest. I want the audience to feel that." I came up with the idea of incorporating slowly decaying sunflowers into the foreground, as the coniferous forest turns into a swampy wetland. The Acacia Strain has been a big influence on my music taste ever since I discovered their album Wormwood at my local library in High School. Being able to bring their vision for this album to life was a dream come true. Not to mention being responsible for the entire design and execution of such a fresh and unique way of releasing music.
